Health and Safety in Aruba
Can I drink the water?
This is the first question we are trained to ask when traveling abroad. The answer here in Aruba is "Yes!". The water is among the best in the world. While the island has no natural fresh water source, it does have the world's second largest desalination plant. While travelers to other countries joke about the bottled water just being tap water, in Aruba, this is true. The bottled water you purchase at stores and restaurants have the exact source as the tap water. All the water is filtered and desalinated sea water - and it tastes great. This is one of the benefits of traveling in Aruba. On a side note, the local beer Balashi is also made with this unique water, giving it a very fresh taste.
Safety in Aruba
Aruba is one of safest destinations in the Caribbean. Crime is virtually unheard of. That being said, crimes of opportunity happen everywhere - don't leave your valuables in an unlocked car, or unattended on the beach. Take the same precautions that you would in your home city, and you'll have nothing to worry about.
