Taxis in Aruba

Taxis work on a fixed rate system - meaning no meters. There is an official rate guide, that every taxi has. The driver will give you the rate for your destination before you get in. It is easy to get a taxi at your hotel, but not roadside. Because you probably won't find a taxi in a remote area, just arrange with your driver to pick you up at a certain time, from your secluded beach or hiking area. There are rate surcharges for Sundays, weekends and holidays. Also for waiting and for more than one piece of luggage per person.

Buses in Aruba

The bus system is safe and reliable, run by AruBus. They run every half hour in the day, and every hour at night, until midnight. Cost is 2.25 Florins ($1.25US) for a one way trip, 4 florins ($2.25US) or a same day return trip.
