Established in 1979, the government sanctioned Bonaire Marine Park which both protects and promotes Bonaire's beautiful coral reefs and marine life. The cay of Klein Bonaire and the entire coastline of the country are included in this protected park, making this one of the best dive and snorkel sites in the world. There are 86 dive sites, each clearly marked with yellow stone markers or buoys. Many of the sites can be reached by shore - simply walk in. The shallow and clear waters make for excellent snorkeling, for those who prefer being on the surface. Expect to see a huge variety of life, including barracuda, trumpet fish, parrot fish, angel fish, and many sponges and soft and hard coral.
